QA Team Leader

to join the Quality Assurance Team. This new hire will work in McCormick’s US Flavors Division, located at 3300 Century Circle in Irving, TX. Our most popular brands include McCormick, French's, Frank's RedHot, Stubb's, OLD BAY, Lawry's, Zatarain's, Ducros, Vahiné, Cholula, Schwartz, Kamis, DaQiao, Club House, Aeroplane, and Gourmet Garden.POSITION OVERVIEWUnder the general direction of the Quality Manager, the QA Team Manager is responsible for managing and directing activities that include product quality and defect management, managing a QA Technician/Lab Team to meet the needs of internal and external customers while achieving key indicator results that support business goals. The person is responsible for managing the supplies and labor budget. A core responsibility is to develop the team to their fullest potential through HPO. The person is heavily involved in process improvement initiatives, PDCA, and root cause analysis.Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.RESPONSIBILITIESCreates a vision for the team that is in alignment with McCormick and the production facility.Leads team of laboratory technicians to achieve key indicator results that support the Dallas Plant’s strategic objectives, goals, strategies, and measures.Provides direction and supports the daily management and work prioritization of approx. 25 direct reports to achieve flawless process and product quality goals.Leads failure analysis when required for failures (including near miss and actual incidents).Creates and leads the structure of High Performance to engage the team to utilize continuous improvement and lean tools to optimize results within the quality team.Assures compliance with Corporate QA/QC policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State, and local regulations.Manages fiscal responsibility to ensure the department spend is consistent with business requirements.Investigates, identifies, and communicates documented root cause and corrective actions for quality defective material.Maintains customer quality satisfaction through inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, production processes, environmental conditions, and finished products.Ensures the timely compliance to all corporate, divisional, and customer correlation/calibration programs.Conducts and participates in customer visits and audits as needed.Participates in problem solving events and process improvement using RCA and CAPA tools.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBSc in Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or other technical degree.1 year of management or leadership experience, at least 2 of which in a processing or production / industrial environment, preferably in a quality role.Minimum three (3) years working in Quality in food, beverage, flavor, pet food, and/or ingredient manufacturing plant(s).Willingness to work flexible hours to manage a 24-hour operation.Must understand the critical service role of QA within the production environment.Strong understanding of how own area integrates with other areas and co-ordinates to contribute to the achievement of goals through influence.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working with SAP Systems.HACCP Knowledge and/or Certification.PCQI Certification.Six Sigma Certification.McCormick & Company is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
