OBAYASHI CORPORATION

is seeking qualified candidates with experience in Tunneling and/or Underground Projects in the USA.ROLE:

Provide direction, supervision, and coordination for tunneling and underground projects (TBM tunnels, SEM tunnels, micro-tunneling, shafts, mining, and any other underground structure works) undertaken by Obayashi Corporation to manage self-perform activities and coordinate subcontractors’ works. The expected start date is June 2024.EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of BS degree in Civil Engineering or related degree required.

15+ years combined experience in construction/engineering for tunneling, mining, or underground works.

SKILLS:

Strong Computer Skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software and Viewpoint Construction Software a plus.

Strong oral and written communication skills required.

Attention to details and ability to recognize discrepancies.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:Project Award:

Assist BD group in development of new opportunities and evaluations of potential pursuits.

Participate in the estimating and proposal process for the tender new projects. For JV projects, work in conjunction with partners to complete the tender package.

Review project plans, specifications, estimating scopes, and pricing during project procurement period to develop means and methods, scheduling, planning, and design developments for project pursuits.

Assist with development of subcontractor scope packages and pricing.

Work with Precon Group to ensure that the project schedule, budget, and work breakdown structure are developed and in place.

Post-Project Award:

Upon project award, coordinate transfer of project from estimating group to the project team.

Develop a project staffing plan.

Work with precon and project team to negotiate and establish the terms and scope of work for subcontractor and supplier packages.

Prepare the project schedule of values for submission to Owner.

Manage and direct project staff, craft labor, and subcontractors to achieve project requirements and goals.

Responsible for the overall project safety efforts and ensuring safety standards are met and exceeded.

Ensure project complies with all legal, ethical, and environmental standards.

Approve all project purchasing.

Review and approve all subcontractor and supplier monthly payment applications.

Ensure the project schedule is updated and establish procedures for measuring and monitoring delivery of materials and progress by subcontractors and suppliers.

Prepare a job costing summary, identifying variances to budget, changes to work, unit rates, usage of cash allowances, internal costs, and potential claims and liabilities. Review a monthly cash flow projection and report on variances to the baseline. Establish, with Accounting, specific cost control measures and produce timely cost reports to management.

Receive requests for changes from Owner, oversee calculation of pricing, issue change requests to subcontractors, and submit quotations for approval. Upon approval, review and authorize Change Orders from Owner and direct the issuance of Change Orders to subcontractors. Maintain and update Additional Work Log.

Prepare and deliver required project reporting to the home office.

Oversee and manage purchasing of required project equipment.

Coordinate efforts and communications with joint venture partners.

Coordinate with project owner and construction manager.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to those listed above, and other duties may be assigned.

OTHER:

Able to work after hours, weekends, and on call when needed.

May be located on site full-time for specific projects.

Traveling for meetings and site visits nationwide.

Ability to walk and work on outdoor construction job sites.

Ability to carry and/or lift up to 40 lbs.
