The Block Museum of Art's Curatorial Associate works closely with the Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs on various matters related to the curatorial department. They assist in preparing materials for meetings, including weekly curatorial department meetings and periodic exhibition committee meetings; assist with tracking exhibition proposals and related correspondence; assist with other correspondence as needed; and assist with scholarly research for acquisitions, exhibitions, and other projects. At times, under the direction of the department curators, they work on discreet and varied exhibition, acquisition, or program-related projects. These may include but are not limited to, organizing materials for exhibition catalogs, researching and undertaking correspondence related to image rights, assisting with organizing scholar's workshops, notetaking during meetings or workshops, and assisting with visiting artists. They handle other duties related to the daily functioning of the curatorial department as assigned.Specific Responsibilities:Daily Functioning of the Curatorial Department: Assists in the preparation of materials for meetings, including weekly curatorial department meetings and quarterly exhibition committee meetings; Assists with the tracking of exhibition proposals and related correspondence; Assists with email and written correspondence as needed; Assists with art historical research for acquisitions or exhibitions; Other duties related to the daily functioning of the curatorial department as assigned.Special Projects: Works on discreet exhibition or acquisition-related projects under the direction of the department curators. Organizes materials for exhibition catalogues; Researches and undertakes correspondence related to image-right; Assists with the organization of scholar's workshops; Takes notes during meetings or workshops; Assists with visiting artists.Other Duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:A Bachelor's Degree in art history, history, anthropology, performance studies, visual studies or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Ability to conduct art historical research.Competency in writing about art.Strong organization skills and attention to detail.Ability to follow directions and to work independently and collaboratively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Demonstrated excellent writing and verbal communication skills.The target hiring range for this position will be between $18.42 - $21.00 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.Benefits:
