This position manages the Student Affairs scholarship program and distribution of funds. Primary responsibilities include the administration of Academic Works software and coordinating with Student Affairs departments, Advancement and Admissions & Financial Aid representatives.ResponsibilitiesManage the identification, sponsor and purpose of scholarships.Work directly with departments with scholarships.Assist departments with the review and selection process of scholarship awardees.Collaborate with the Financial Aid and Scholarships Coordinators to ensure the timely availability of Scholarships funding, year-round.Ensure scholarships are available and fully disbursed in accordance with donors’ intent.Review existing scholarship policies and procedures and make recommendations for implementation strategies to bring uniformity to the overall scholarship program.Monitor and prepare scholarship projections and accurate expenditure reports of all scholarship funds awarded to students in Student Affairs’ departments.Work with the Financial Aid and Admissions Offices to promote and award scholarships.Update and maintain Academic Works including managing the appropriate, timely opening, closing and archiving of application periods.Serve as a point of contact to Academic Works.Ensure broad promotion of the scholarship application period throughout the campus and greater community.Work with departments to solicit volunteers to serve as scholarship essay reviewers and manage the review process.Mail an accurate Annual Scholarship Account Summary to all endowed scholarship donors.Assist in the planning and coordination of the Donor/Scholar event (donor appreciation and donor/student receptions).Act as liaison to the Advancement department.Help Student Affairs departments and Advancement identify and invite recipients of Student Success funds to present their stories at award banquets, presentations, etc.Maintain accurate and complete scholarship donor records; capture contact and biographical information.Work Environment and Level of Frequency typically requiredNearly Continuously: Office environment.Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be requiredNearly Continuously: Sitting, hearing, listening, talking.Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required; plus six years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills also required. Master’s degree in Business Administration or related area preferred. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.PreferencesExperience in scholarship management in higher education.Experience using scholarship management, database records or similar software programs.Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to maintain community and professional affiliations to enhance growth and knowledge in higher education and philanthropy.Ability to use varying styles, approaches, skills and techniques to maintain and grow the management of scholarships.Additional InformationThe University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
