The Assistant Director of Student Services assists the Student Services Director in the supervision, coordination, and evaluation of the Departments PreK-12 special education programs and student services in order to support the unique needs of children with disabilities within RSU 14. This is a full-time, year-round benefits-eligible position.Duties:

Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain a high quality of services.Knowledge of special education law and legal requirements at both the state and federal level.Minimum of 3 years teaching experience with K-12 students.2-3 years of special education administration experience.Knowledge of special education and regular education assessment practices.Essential Responsibilities:

Provide supervision and evaluation of professional and support staff in conjunction with the building administrator and the Student Services Director.Maintain current knowledge of all rules, regulations, and statutes governing special education and assure compliance for all programs and services.Assist with program development for students with disabilities.Coordinate the recruitment and hiring of Student Services personnel.Participate in district-level Task Groups working toward goals and initiatives outlined by the district's Strategic Plan.Serve as the district's out of district coordinator.Oversee special education referrals and programming for the following: Windham Christian Academy, Raymond School Choice students, Day One students, and homeschooled students.Serve as the district's Alternate Assessment Coordinator.Serve as the District's McKinney-Vento Liaison.Serve as the primary contact for students placed in group homes in Windham/Raymond.Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Student Services Director and/or the Superintendent of Schools.Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time.Must have the ability to move between district locations and/or inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.The person in this position must have the ability to effectively communicate (through both written and oral means) accurate information with staff, parents, and community members.Must have the ability to identify, recognize, assess, and observe students and information.Other Job Requirements:

Ability to maintain a professional demeanor.Ability to effectively prioritize workload.Superior verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Excellent computer skills and proficiency with a variety of platforms.The ability to lift/restrain students, etc., if/when necessary.Frequent travel required within and outside of district.
