This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, OJS, Assoc Dir-Tribal Justice Support in

Anchorage, Alaska . Position will assist in the administration of technical assistance and training options for all tribal justice systems within PL 280 jurisdictions, as well as in the facilitation of the administration of judicial services.EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

One year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level is required. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: utilizing a wide range of knowledge in qualitative and quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of a tribal justice system using actual trial practice experience; comprehensive knowledge of the full range of administrative laws, policies, regulations, and precedents applicable to the administration of Tribal Justice programs; create new objectives and implement strategies for effective training and technical assistance to Tribal courts based on actual trial court experience; and work with a team to create a data analysis system to report the status and needs of Tribal Justice systems through statistical analysis.This is a supervisory position. Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period before their appointment becomes final. Those who do not satisfactorily complete this probationary period will be returned to positions of no lower grade and pay than those they occupied before assuming their supervisory assignment.All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472).
