Administers Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state labor laws. This position is responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support the College's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to college leadership, faculty, and staff on HR-related matters and ensures compliance with legal regulations and industry best practices. The Director leads and engages in strategic planning which supports the staffing, compensation, and benefit goals of the college and aids fulfillment of the college mission.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reasonable accommodations are made as required for persons who are disabled under the Americans With Disabilities Act.Coordinates talent acquisition activities including advertising and posting open positions, reference and background checks, and onboarding and orientation.Leads onboarding and new hire orientation sessions for all new hires. Provides active support and counsel to hiring managers in the process.Supports the recruitment process by coordinating and scheduling interviews, preparing interview materials, and assisting in the evaluation and selection of candidates for faculty and staff positions.Provides well-informed counsel to managers in disciplinary situations.Maintains open communication with all employees, responds to employee questions, concerns, or problems and fosters positive employee relations. Refers complex or controversial issues to the VCHR.Interprets personnel policies and operating procedures for employees and managers on request.Processes terminated/retired employees’ paperwork.Responds to Unemployment Claims.Facilitates exit interviews and oversees the process.Assists with coordination of campus/service area benefits and wellness plans.Coordinates the workers’ compensation program for the campus/service area.Assists with the annual performance review process and annual review of job descriptions.Assists with Human Resources recordkeeping and reporting functions including all employee records and files. Reviews and monitors personnel data entered in the HRS system to ensure validity and accuracy.Assists VCHR in handling employee grievances, investigations of alleged employee misconduct and other employment-related difficulties, termination or non-renewal of employment, and employee well-being programs.Coordinates and assists with Talent Development and Training initiatives for the campus.Maintains a working knowledge of Ivy Tech policies, procedures, issues and concerns relevant to increasing minority participation and retention.Coordinates employee trainings and development initiatives.Position may serve as a backup for the VCHR.Manages Unemployment Claims.Actively participates in campus-wide committees to represent HR interests and contribute to organizational initiatives. Serve as a visible and approachable advocate for employees, fostering engagement and promoting a positive HR presence across the organization.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Resources management, personnel administration, business or public administration, industrial/labor relations, or a related field.EXPERIENCE:

Minimum five years of increasingly responsible Human Resources experience and administrative responsibility involving program planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation.
