Manages and coordinates activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in industrial plant, public utility, or other organization.Establishes purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.Establishes procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.Prepares and assigns purchase orders and change notices to purchasing agents.Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.Keeps informed of economic, industrial, and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions.Reviews and monitors requisitions, supply sources, supplies, quotations, terms, etc.Recommends major purchases of materials based on anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.Participates in contract negotiations and vendor selection.Monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments.Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates job performance of purchasing department personnel.Acts as a liaison in dealings between vendors and user departments when necessary.May perform duties of Buyer.Responsible for Inventory Turns and cost savings projects.Position Qualification Requirements

Education

Minimum of five years’ experience in a customer centric type position with Management responsibility required. Knowledge of door hardware product applications and bi-lingual capabilities preferred (but not required).Skills + Knowledge

Proficient with MRP/ERP systems, Excel and other Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills necessary. Must be dependable, accurate, detail oriented and possess the ability to work well in a team environment. General knowledge of NAFTA and related international shipping requirements (e.g. customs, etc.)Physical Activities + Demands

Physical demands commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job which requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, push, pull, grasp, talk, hear, climb, and see. The employee is required to lift 25 to 60 pounds rarely and/or 5 to 25 pounds occasionally and/or 1 to 5 pounds frequently and/or under 1 pound continuously from floor to waist and move 1 or 2 feet.
