Director Inbound Transportation

Purpose

Support full network of 8 Save A Lot Distribution Centers’ Transportation departments in both operational and financial areas. Manage all dedicated fleet and brokerage scheduling issues and service level performance. Primary contact for all inbound transportation financial review and data integrity for freight pricing and new item form completion. Manage all brokerage relationships, including the coordination of all communication of information, transmission of purchase orders, and processing of centralized DC brokerage freight billing.

Responsibilities

Manages strategic and operations direction of all inbound transportation activities across Save A Lot network of dedicated fleets and broker carriers.Oversees direction and process flow of negotiation with Merchandising on freight costs during bid cycles; Executes approval of all inbound transportation strategy decisions.Manages all backhaul and brokerage startup and continuous management activities through active performance metric monitoring.Oversees all inbound transportation pricing activities, including direct DC shipments, consolidation programs, and inter-network movements.Manages inbound transportation data integrity and monitoring; coordinate the validation of transportation pricing data, including internal costing and external allowance management.Manages approval process of inbound carrier payment, including invoice submission approval, invoice dispute resolution, carrier claims management, and accessorial fees application/validation.Manages all DC expenses and revenues associated with inbound transportation activities.Oversees and markets excess dedicated fleet capacities, in order to achieve cost avoidance/profit from idle dedicated assets.Communicates/Collaborates with Supply Chain Engineers to establish SOPs and reporting mechanisms for all inbound transportation activities: Backhaul Revenue, Broker Credits, DC Transfers, New Item Forms, Cross Dock Management, Carrier Invoicing, Allowance Management, etc.About You

College degree required.Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in transportation operations required. Five (5) years’ experience in transportation operations if completed post-secondary education. Two (2) years of international transportation operations preferred. Supply Chain experience in a wholesale/retail environment preferred.Strong analytical skills required. Problem solving, administrative, and organizational skills required.Effective oral and written communication skills; strong negotiation skills and strong interpersonal skills.Technological agility in all Microsoft platforms and various Web-Based applications including database analytics (Tableau/Power BI).Physical Requirements

Ability to travel up to ~10% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed.Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment.Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.Our Values
