The Climate Change Analyst will be a key figure in advancing NATO’s understanding of the impacts of climate change on security and defense. This role is critical for integrating climate considerations into NATO’s strategic planning and operations, ensuring that the Alliance is prepared to address the evolving threats posed by climate change. The analyst will work closely with various NATO bodies, member states, and external partners to develop strategies that enhance the resilience of NATO forces and infrastructure in a changing climate.Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Analysis:

Conduct comprehensive analyses of how climate change affects NATO’s strategic environment, including its impact on military operations, infrastructure, and supply chains. Assess the vulnerabilities and opportunities that arise from these changes.Policy Development:

Contribute to the development of NATO’s climate-related policies and action plans, ensuring that they align with broader NATO objectives and international climate agreements. Provide recommendations for adapting NATO’s defense posture to mitigate climate risks.Data Collection and Reporting:

Gather and analyze data on climate-related trends and their security implications. Prepare detailed reports and briefings for NATO leadership, highlighting key findings and strategic recommendations.Collaboration and Networking:

Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including member nations, international organizations, academia, and industry, to share knowledge and coordinate climate security efforts. Support NATO’s participation in international climate forums and initiatives.Support for Exercises and Operations:

Assist in incorporating climate considerations into NATO exercises and operational planning. Ensure that climate resilience is tested and validated in various NATO scenarios.Innovation and Research:

Stay abreast of the latest research and technological advancements in climate science and security. Explore innovative solutions to enhance NATO’s resilience to climate-related disruptions.Qualifications:

Education:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, climate studies, international relations, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in climate change and security are highly desirable.Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in climate change analysis, environmental policy, or security studies, preferably within an international or defense context. Experience working with NATO or similar multinational organizations is advantageous.Technical Skills:

Proficiency in climate modeling tools, data analysis software, and strategic planning frameworks. Familiarity with NATO’s operational and strategic environments is essential.Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.Clearance:
