Plant Manager

Pallidus, Inc., is a fast-growing producer of large diameter Silicon Carbide wafers for high power and high frequency semiconductor applications in Transportation, Green Energy, Telecommunication, and Industrial markets. Pallidus’ M-SiC technology delivers step change improvements in SiC quality and cost effectiveness to drive wafer to device yield performance. SCOPE

Reporting to the COO, the Plant Manager will be a key member of the operations team in executing the company’s operating plan, vision, and strategic goals. Working closely with the leadership team, the Plant Manager will facilitate operational results, spur growth, and increase overall efficiency of their assigned location.

The Plant Manager will have direct responsibility for plant operations including manufacturing, process engineering, location safety and facilities, quality assurance, and maintenance. A key indicator of success will be hiring and developing a site leadership team with experience in a manufacturing environment.

Candidate must reside in Albany, NY area or be willing to relocate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacturing Management

Direct manufacturing with the goal of meeting production goals within the established time frame and cost structure.

Total quality management, LEAN, and Continuous improvement programs.

Establish policy, procedure, and business processes that are consistent with operational strategy and with the goal of driving results and achieving a high level of success.

Constant focus on improving operational processes, quality, and yield to decrease cost/time and increase production and profit.

Drive a data-driven culture by establishing, monitoring and reporting out on key operational metrics.

As part of a matrixed, decentralized organization, this role will be acting as an On-Site manager, managing all local employees on a functional and/or hierarchical basis dependent on function and role.

Manage production engineering, preventive and curative maintenance of highly automated equipment.

As plant manager of Pallidus Innovation and Development Center, work closely together with other factories to introduce, optimize new and innovative manufacturing concepts.

Work closely with Research and Development on innovation pipeline feasibility and transfer of new technology to Operations.

Manage capital spend and operations budget to ensure the company achieves the financial targets for growth and sustainability.

Work with key leaders throughout the organization to develop and execute effective safety, health, and environment programs, policies, and procedures that drive a Zero Incident Mindset culture. Lead by example and foster a safety culture based on collaboration, trust, respect, integrity, and credibility.

Ensure all safety, health, and environmental programs are implemented effectively and that operations comply with all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

Leadership

Hire and develop a team of leaders in the functional areas of manufacturing floor management, engineering, and maintenance.

Manage a matrixed organization, dotted line relationships with site quality, EHS, procurement, and logistics team members.

Manage performance and provide growth opportunities for high performing team members. Work closely with HR on staffing open roles, succession planning, and aligning the organization for future needs.

Lead/mentor project teams that evaluate ways of simplifying operations to achieve greater effectiveness and consistency in output.

Set clear expectations and define roles and responsibilities across various functions at the manufacturing site. Monitor progress against achievement of milestones.

Build strong relationships with cross-functional leaders (HR/Finance/Sales & Marketing/IT) to ensure site is meeting both internal and external commitments.

REQUIREMENTS

15+ years of progressive leadership experience in directly managing large manufacturing organizations.

Knowledge of data-driven MES, ERP systems.

Quality methods like LEAN, Six Sigma, 5S.

Experience in high-tech industry preferred.

Proven experience scaling up manufacturing sites and managing full cycle supply chain.

Proven ability to attract, develop, motivate, retain, and lead a high-performing team of professionals. Successfully sets the vision, monitors progress, and holds the team accountable.

Collaborative leader who acts as a role model to team members and peers – someone whom people believe in and want to partner with to ensure success.

Excellent communication skills and able to interact with all levels within the organization.
