Decatur Diamond is a privately held, US manufacturer of diamond-based, precision cutting tools
is seeking a qualified Plant Manager to manage and lead plant operations with overall
responsibilities for production, quality and other production related activities.
Decatur Diamond has a broad offering of diamond-based tools in the industry. Our products include, but are not limited to the Ultra Mill milling cutter and associated diamond-based cartridges and inserts, fixed-pocket brazed tools, CVD coated solid carbide rounds and inserts, as well as very high precision, diamond based-complex rounds, (e.g., automotive reamers, valve seat and guide tools, etc.)
The Plant Manager will be responsible for:
- Direction and management of plant operations for production, quality and shipping and receiving.
- Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
- Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
- Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisors.
- Management of machinery, production & processes, workflow, scheduling, quality control, materials and supplies inventory, workplace organization & maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Workforce management of the production staff.
- Implementing best practices across all facets of the operation.
- Establishing standards for work processes.
- Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on time delivery
- Working closely with ownership.
- Direct oversight and supervision of all plant personnel.
- Have 10 years of experience in manufacturing and machining along with a genuine interest and aptitude in the field
- Desire to stay relevant in the most common technologies of machining and manufacturing
- Possesses a goal-orientated work ethic and drive to succeed while also being a self-starter and dedicated team player
- Exhibits effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or five years plant/general management experience in a close tolerance manufacturing environment with responsibilities in machine operation.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supervising CNC machine operators, processes and equipment.
