Summary:The primary purpose of this position is to manage, coordinate and evaluate requests for investigation that may implicate misconduct of Department or private agency staff. Requires assessment of primary investigative documents and subject and collateral interviews. Conducts research of applicable laws, rules, procedures, and general child welfare practices. As a member of the University and DCFS Office of the Inspector General, evaluates requests for investigation to determine if OIG investigation criteria are met and assists in conducting confidential and sensitive investigations of child deaths/serious injuries and allegations of misconduct or violations of rules, procedures, or laws by DCFS employees, foster parents, service providers, and contractors. May conduct and coordinate the assignment of full investigations. This position will be located at the DCFS Office of Inspector General in Chicago, Illinois.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a system for evaluating requests for investigation.
Conduct confidential and sensitive investigations of child deaths/serious injuries and allegations of misconduct or violations of rules, procedures, or laws by DCFS employees, foster parents, service providers, and contractors.
Conduct academic evidence-based research and policy analysis of child welfare-related topics to support OIG investigations.
Supervise OIG investigators in conducting confidential and sensitive investigations.
Perform other related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:(1) Master’s degree in a social/behavioral science or related profession (e.g., social work, public administration, counseling, sociology, or psychology).(2) Three (3) years of experience in the area of child welfare, human services, or related field.
