Position Summary
The Category Insights Manager will report directly to the AVP of Sales, Walmart and is responsible for developing, analyzing, and presenting Walmart business information to help drive topline sales and net revenue. Primary responsibilities include developing analytics-based selling stories to deliver new item initiatives, along with planogram implementation, business planning, and overall category insights and recommendations.
Essential Tasks, Duties, & Responsibilities
Work closely with Sales Team to analyze the Walmart business determining risks, opportunities, and action steps needed to achieve and improve profit, volume and share growth (i.e., GMROI, in stock, sell through %, ideal product assortments, new item performance).
Provides quantitative and qualitative feedback based on results of analysis.
Leads presentation of findings for monthly internal sales review meetings and assists with Customer facing meetings by providing accurate and actionable insights.
Expert in competitive data trends by reviewing, analyzing, and communicating to assist in driving Markwins growth.
Analyze data to generate effective pre-promotion forecasting and planning, and post-promotion analysis to measure promotion effectiveness.
Responsible for new item and display setup and Item 360 support.
Participates in the development of pricing/merchandising strategies at the account level and reports on a consistent basis any price leadership opportunities.
Manage modular details, timelines, and forms collaborating closely with internal and Walmart modular teams.
Assists with planogram development, modular drawing and monitoring of progress against established business plans.
Work in tandem with Modular Management to improve the space and location of Markwins Beauty Brands utilizing both customer and syndicated data.
Perform other duties as needed and directed by management.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in business, economics, or related field
3-5 years of experience as a Category Advisor, Category Insights, Shopper Insights, Sales, Forecasting or related analytical work experience is required
Extensive experience with data & situational analysis
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ProSpace/JDA modular drawing experience required
Experience with data visualization tools - Power BI a plus
Must be proficient with Walmart applications Retail Link, Item 360, NOVA. Luminate experience preferred but not mandatory.
Must have advanced skills with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Ability to prepare and analyze sales reports independently
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work and manage projects independently
Advanced problem-solving skills with ability to be creative and see different perspectives
Strong organizational & prioritization skills with the ability to multi-task
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Capable of working under tight deadlines and a fast-paced environment
Experience working in a retail CPG industry preferred
