Assistant Director, Graduate Admissions

Under the direction of the Director of Admissions and working collaboratively with School Deans, Program Directors, and Graduate Faculty, the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions is responsible for implementing enrollment management best practices and admissions strategies to meet the University’s new graduate student enrollment goals. The position is responsible for assisting the Director of Admissions with implementing a strategic outreach and recruitment plan for graduate student populations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assists and supports the Director of Admissions with developing, implementing and evaluating recruitment strategies for graduate students.

Reviews admissions, scholarship and recruitment information available at USJ’s web site and in print material and monitors relevant information from other sources.

Collaborates with the Office of Marketing and Communications to develop, implement and evaluate recruitment strategies and resources.

Partners with graduate program directors and other student and enrollment services staff to support graduate students from inquiry through matriculation; serves on enrollment-related committees and projects, as assigned.

Plans, coordinates and participates in recruitment/admission programs, yield events, and information sessions.

Identifies opportunities to recruit off-site and collaborates with departments and schools to arrange funding. Travel, as assigned.

Clearly, accurately, and enthusiastically articulates information about the University and its programs, admission criteria, cost of attendance and aid. Assesses individual student needs and, through multi-channel approaches, develops tactics to provide students with essential information.

Responsible for successfully moving students through stages of admission funnel, evaluates applications, processes admissions materials, makes recommendations regarding admissions and scholarship on behalf of the University, and captures all information accurately into USJ’s database. Conducts market research to be current with target populations, trends and best practices.

Utilizes varying technologies (CAS application systems) and CRM system (Slate) to engage and track prospective students, conduct recruitment data analysis, manage contacts, generate reports and communicate with students.

Represents the University and the Office of Admissions with the highest degree of professionalism through an array of outreach, programs and activities, and fosters strong professional relationships with partner institutions and organizations.

Working with the Director of Admissions, collaborates and supports outcomes-based new student orientation and onboarding programs.

Performs other related duties, including work with undergraduate populations, as assigned.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

1-3 years of experience in higher education in the areas of enrollment management, recruitment, admission, marketing or related experience required.

Database management and technology experience in higher education and familiarity with best practices required. Experience with Slate, Jenzabar preferred.

Prior experience in sales or customer service in a fast-paced environment preferred.

Travel, evening and weekend work required.

Demonstrated ability to recognize and appropriately handle matters of a confidential nature.
