Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist V for NJMS- Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience. Under direction of principal investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist V performs research activities requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Perform experiments (for example, rodents behavioral tests, perfusion, rodents brain sectioning and immunohistochemistry)

Maintain mouse colony (for example, genotyping, breeding, weaning)

Assist in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, constantly evaluating existing procedures, revising where necessary, proposing new procedures where required and evaluating suggestions and changes as proposed, in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.

Organize and maintain experimental records and data of the lab.

Submit purchase recommendations to supervisor for analytical and physiological equipment and laboratory operating supplies.

Assist with the preparations of proposals, formal applications, and justification for grant application.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Annual Minimum Salary : 49,097.00

Annual Mid Range Salary : 58,427.00

Annual Maximum Salary : 68,819.00

Standard Hours : 37.50

Terms of Appointment : Staff - 12 month

Position Pension Eligibility : ABP

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience : Bachelor's Degree in relevant science and engineering.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Experience with rodent experiments and immunohistochemical analysis on rodent and human tissue, preferred. Must be able to maintain the mouse colony, and immunohistochemical analysis (perfusion, sectioning, and histology).
