Overview

We are seeking a full-time

Project Manager 2 Operations

in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing project management and coordination for moderately complex projects between project teams and other departments in the development of Garmin products and may serve as a Project Leader on small to mid-sized projects.Essential FunctionsApplies project management skills on moderately complex projects or tasks, including understanding and communicating milestones, timelines, and project decisionsProvisions the timely documentation of clear project scope [i.e. detailed assumptions, requirements (internal, external, regulatory), objectives/targets, validation needs, resource estimates, costs, and timing]Leads effective and efficient team meetings, ensures team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed, and communicates project tradeoffs and decisions to ensure forward moving progress of the projectSupports creation and maintenance of complex timelines and milestone trackingApplies project metrics and risk management principles to identify and mitigate potential schedule impacting itemsDrives the overall progress of assigned projects towards completion, using good judgment in determining when to escalate issues to managementMay perform as a project leader on small to mid-size projectsLeverages understanding of product domain to support concept/new feature development effortsEnsures accurate project reporting and consistently provides clear and accurate project documentationDevelops good relationships between the various team(s), other Garmin teams/departments and external entities (e.g. customers, suppliers, etc.)Collaborates and participates in design reviews by providing input, feedback, and process improvement suggestionsProvides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including support of root cause and corrective actions for given problemsDemonstrates full use of accepted standards, procedures, tools and requirements as they relate to project management and product segmentDemonstrates good customer communication skills, including but not limited to handling difficult conversations and negotiating with the customer for reasonable delivery targetsProvides mentoring and guidance to less experienced Project Managers (Project Manager 1This position supports the following areas:Manufacturing, Repair and Lean Process Team:The Manufacturing, Repair and Lean Process Team is responsible for the production of Aviation products and the service, repair and return processing of all Garmin products as well as identification and elimination of waste in Operations processes.Distribution and Logistics Team:The Distribution and Logistics Team is responsible for the movement of goods from the source through the distribution channel right up to the end user, consumer, or customer. The Logistics team is the management of inventory in motion and at rest. It is the planning, execution and control of the procurement, movement and stationing of personnel, material and other resources to achieve company objectives.Sourcing and Supply Chain Team:The Sourcing and Supply Chain Team is responsible for identification, acquisition, access and management of material and service supply resources to attain Garmin’s strategic objectives.Operations Leadership Team:The Operations Leadership team is responsible for all functional disciplines within Operations including development/implementation of performance scorecards and dashboards in the operations strategy deployment planning process. Responsible for initiatives that may involve any US or international Garmin organization needing Global Operations/ Supply Chain reporting.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, Management, Operations, or related field

AND

a minimum of 2 years project management experience

OR

an equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work across functional and organizational departmentsDemonstrated Project Management skills with a proven track record in delivering projects within the expected timeline and budgetDemonstrated experience with effectively eliciting cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments and ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity.Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologiesMust be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead projects in a fast paced, deadline-driven environmentAbility to deal with confidential company mattersProficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)Desired QualificationsOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)APICS Certified (American Production and Inventory Control Society)Previous experience with Oracle ERP demonstrating technical competence in configuration of business functional modulesGeneral understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system designGeneral understanding of Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architecturesDESIRABLE GARMIN COMPLIANCE LABS QUALIFICATIONS:Working knowledge of EMC testing experienceElectrical Engineering backgroundWorking knowledge of JIRA and ConfluenceGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
