Overview

We are seeking a full-time

Senior Project Manager Engineering

in our Olathe, KS location. Do you enjoy solving complex problems with international teams across multiple organizations? Then this may be a perfect role for you! In this high-visibility role, you'll be responsible for applying project management skills to drive worldwide strategic engineering initiatives on complex projects or tasks, including understanding and communicating project scope, milestones, timelines, and project decisions.

Essential FunctionsApplies Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibits a desire to see Garmin succeedApplies project management skills on medium to large engineering projects of average complexity, including understanding, developing and communicating project scope, milestones, and decisionsDemonstrates product domain knowledge, full use of accepted processes, procedures, tools and requirementsIdentifies and supports process improvement activitiesDrives projects to closure, applies good judgment in identifying issues and risks, creates mitigation plans with assistance from mentor or direct supervisorDemonstrates ability to maintain clear project status, documentation, and reporting for medium to large projects with established toolsDemonstrates communication skills, including effective listening, responding appropriately, and managing difficult conversationsBuilds relationships and gains alignment within the departmentIdentifies/resolves conflicts through understanding of interdependencies of and development of effective relationships between the development team(s)Demonstrates ability to lead effective and efficient team meetingsEnsures team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed of project scope, schedule and costDemonstrates project ownership with moderate involvement from Team Leader/Mentor, working towards single point of contact for project needs and moderate contributions to the success of the projectProvides mentoring and guidance to less experienced Project ManagersParticipates in recruiting activities as assignedBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a technical discipline

AND

a minimum of 5 years relevant project management experience

OR

an equivalent combination of education and project management experienceExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Ability to lead a team in the development of product/concept development plans as well as successfully execute projects of any scale or complexityAdvanced understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management, including the ability to successfully identify and mitigate risksPrevious experience managing multiple projects simultaneouslyDemonstrated success in bringing together cross functional teams for effective problem resolutionDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsMust be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead projects in a fast paced, deadline-driven environmentAbility to deal with confidential company mattersProficient computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)Desired QualificationsOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to...
