The Central Services Division (CSD) assists the agency in achieving its mission by providing central management services for the agency in accounting, budgeting, information systems, human resources, health and safety, training, policy and organizational development, purchasing, and facilities management. CSD serves headquarters and 3 regional divisions, the Vehicle Inspection Program, and the Laboratory and Environmental Assessment Division. Services are provided for over 700 positions, various local and regional governments, and directly to citizens.Click

to view a map of all of the DEQ offices.What you will do!You will support agency programs by conducting less-complex procurement activities, such as determining appropriate solicitation methods; facilitating procurements; working with staff on business process improvements with a goal of long-term efficiency gains; and collaborating with staff to translate program requirements into solicitation and contract specifications and terms. ?Minimum Qualifications: 3 years of paraprofessional or technical-level experience in a related field such as general business, accounting, contracts, purchasing, or project administration, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.Candidates who are most competitive will also reflect the following:Demonstrated understanding of environmental justice and the historical impacts for marginalized and underrepresented communities; ability to take personal responsibility for increasing their knowledge of environmental justice and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to use tact, diplomacy, and good judgment to communicate clearly and effectively with employees at all levels, sometimes in stressful situations, and often to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.Ability to prioritize workload to meet changing priorities, complicated assignments, and tight deadlines.Ability to use critical thinking and analytical skills to form independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making; ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.Experience researching and applying appropriate state and federal procurement laws, rules, policies, and procedures.Experience preparing agreements and procurement documents.Experience providing technical assistance.Working Conditions:DEQ believes in a diverse and inclusive work environment. DEQ will provide necessary hardware (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and cell phone) for an employee to successfully work from home. At DEQ sites, you will have access to a workspace, however, it may be shared with other employees.This position requires occasional travel on official State business for meetings, trainings, conferences, seminars, and public hearings, some of which may include evening work, overnight stays, and /or weekend work.
