Food Safety and Quality Assurance Supervisor

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor will be responsible for managing FSQA staff, ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the products and development processes. Reports directly to FSQA Manager.We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:Supervisory Responsibilities, Skills and Abilities:Hires and trains quality assurance and food safety staffTrain, oversees and assists the daily workflow of FSQA staff on production floor and maintains FSQA staff schedulesConducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructiveHandles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policySuperior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skillsSuperior managerial and diplomacy skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, etc.) and able to learn company software to management inventory control and product shipmentsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsIndustry Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Thorough comprehension of USDA regulations and directivesBRC, SQF, SPC and/or Internal Auditing TrainedHACCP Certified (preferred)Extremely focused on personal and food safetyDriven by first time qualityAble to support a food safety cultureOverview of Job Duties/Responsibilities:Implements, trains and manages processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality prior to deliveryCommunicates and trains personnel on new directives, policies, or procedures to FSQA staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.Identifies quality defects and food safety issues and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends solutions to these issuesImplements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operationsEnsures work environments are adequate and safeEnsure operational compliance with food safety and quality are metEnsure production is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadershipProjects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.Performs other duties as assignedWork rotating and overtime schedule (as needed) to ensure the operation of the plant and department.Must have own transportation. Travel 10% per year for training and/or to suppliers as need. Perform internal and external audits to the plant and outside facilities and prepare reports for plant, corporate and sales.Perform root cause analysis investigations for customer complaints, foreign material, and quality failuresAssist in maintaining QA Programs (Pest Control, Sample Shipments, mock Recalls, SPC Control, and Microbiological TestingAssist FSQA Manager on special projects and act as liaison in absence of ManagerGenerate Monthly reports and perform Mock RecallsInput data electronically and provide feedback on trends for sanitation, plant and customer quality reportsAssist and perform BRC, SQF, Customer/Supplier Food Safety AuditsApprove timesheets, prepare weekly schedules and track personnel attendanceAble to stand for long periods, walk in distance, climb, and lift up to 50lbsAble to be a lead or work as a team and in order to complete taskEducation and Experience:Undergraduate Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Business, Engineer, or Industry specific field of study a plusThree to five years of supervisory experience in Further Processing food manufacturing facility or related field requiredExperience with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, SQF and OSHA
