Under the general supervision of the Field Operations Support Unit, Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Research Data Analyst II (RDA II) performs technical research, in-depth data analysis, and research studies necessary to gather, compile, and provide analysis and interpretation of data, design and revision recommendations regarding the Survey Workload Activity Tracking System (SWAT), the State Performance Integrated Reporting and Intelligence Tool (SPIRIT) Report, and other more complex data projects and assignments. The RDA II uses Microsoft (MS) Excel (including pivot tables), Dynamics 365, Microsoft Power BI, and other proprietary state and federal data systems to independently develop and analyze data. Using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, the RDA II independently, and as the workgroup lead, identifies and documents processes, procedures, and guidelines. The RDA II will independently, and in collaboration, review existing processes, practices, procedures, and guidelines to identify and recommend initial and ongoing efficiency and quality improvement opportunities utilizing “Plan, Do, Check, Act,” “Lean Thinking,” and other similar tools.

Teleworking may be available for this position, in accordance with CDPH’s Telework Policy and Procedures.

This is a 12 month Limited-Term Full-Time position that may be extended or become Permanent.

The attached duty statement indicates whether this position is eligible for telework. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200 and may be required to report to a CDPH office, when needed. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment.
