13Position Summary

The University of New Mexico's (UNM) Campus Capital & Space Planning (CCSP) seeks a Planner to join our vibrant, committed team of professionals who support the built environment at UNM. The Planner is responsible for supporting the University Planner, Senior Planner, CCSP staff, and other Campus Environments and Facilities planning efforts.

UNM's CCSP provides professional support services to internal clients using best practices in capital project planning, development, and construction.

Duties of the Planner include, but are not limited to:Assists in campus capital planning and long-term planning studies, long-term facility and asset management, space planning, and land planning activities.Assists in the preparation of feasibility studies; identification of project goals, objectives, critical physical and environmental constraints; space utilization and facility condition assessments; and completion of project deliverables.Assists with the preparation of quantitative-based projections for facility and capital projections.Supports the production of the annual capital budget for facilities, environmental design, landscaping, renewal, and infrastructure, and participates in the capital budget update.Coordinates the production of planning documents, reports, and portfolios.Provides comprehensive facility planning support to capital projects; including coordination of project scopes, programs, and revisions.Leads special studies and environmental design projects.Maintains consistent design guidelines and standards.Assists with various internal and external committees and working groups concerned with the campus physical development plans.Supports Campus Environments and Facilities with a variety of Asset Management Program efforts.UNM employees enjoy a great benefits package, including: four (4) weeks of vacation, paid holidays, sick leave, retirement benefits, tuition remission benefits for yourself and additional education benefits to spouses or domestic partners, and dependent children of eligible employees and retirees.See the Position Description for additional information.Conditions of Employment

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.Preferred Qualifications

This position will be critical in supporting CCSP's efforts to improve and maintain the built environment. The ideal candidate will have:Degree in Architecture, Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related fieldExcellent discipline-specific analytical abilitiesExcellent discipline-specific communication skillsExcellent writing skillsExcellent graphic and map production skillsAwareness of the relationship of planning with the physical environment, real estate, economics, development, architecture, and governmental processesExperience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, desktop publishing, graphic applications, and spreadsheets used in planning projectsAbility to learn UNM's software and asset management systemsExperience in the field of planning for educational communitiesCampus
