Directing shop management team, shop mechanics and machinist. Responsible for assisting in meeting organization’s financial goals. Includes activities such as customer communication, back office support, managing processes, material management, problem solving and logistics.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The Machine Shop Operational Manager demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In the role of Machine Shop Operational Manager, you will:Utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.Maintain care, custody, control, and safe operation and maintenance of a shop, equipment and staff.Establish and sustain a culture that promotes a safe and positive work environment.Assure environmental, health and safety compliance.Develop and implement procedures and systems for shop personnel to operate and maintain the shop in a safe and effective manner.Maintain annual budget and manage shop expenditures appropriately. Manage manpower utilization, manage expenses and manage overall operating cost.Hire, train, supervise and evaluate an effective workforce and delegate / monitor work activities for safe and efficient facility operation.Hire, evaluate, and monitor work activities of contractors / subcontractors for maintenance and repair activities for facility equipment.Be responsible for all aspects of customer order management, including proposal development, risk management and mitigation, specification compliance, scope development, pricing, customer negotiations, customer communications and issue resolution.Interface with the Sales teams to develop commercial strategies and solutions that will meet customer requirements as well as meet or exceed business goals.Manage revenue, profitability, utilization, cost of quality and budget targets.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Engineering from an accredited university or college preferred (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in a support or field engineering role).Minimum 3 years of experience in a management role.Minimum 2-5 years of experience in General Operations Support.Additional experience in industrial/utility/power plant systems is preferred.Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.Ability to climb ladders and stairs.Ability to walk or sit for up to 8 hours continuously.Field Engineering Program (FEP) Graduate is preferred.Six Sigma certification is preferred.Ability to set and meet aggressive targets.Asserts influence over events to achieve goals.Capable of identifying individual strengths to maximize team performance.Ability to take initiative to seek and act upon opportunities for positive change.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Ability to influence others and lead small teams.Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.Effective problem identification and solution skills.Competencies:CommunicationCustomer-orientedBusiness focusedA self-starterDependableStrong teamwork skillsResults orientedSense of urgencyCooper Machinery Services is an equal opportunity employer and gives all qualified applicants consideration of employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, any other characteristic protected by law.Apply Now
