Job Description for Assistant Childcare Director
Setting: Trinity Lutheran Childcare, Reese, Michigan
The Assistant Childcare Director will work with and under the supervision of the Trinity Lutheran Childcare Director. This is a full-time, year-round salary position.
SELF-MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
Be a committed Christian and member of their congregation.

Be ready and able to share the Gospel and Christian faith with children, parents and staff through words, action and attitude.
Be a positive, caring person, liking and valuing children of all ages.
Maintain Red Cross first aid and child and infant CPR certification every 2 years.
Maintain appropriate training and hours required by licensing.
GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
Coordinate the assigning of students into the appropriate infant, toddler, preschool and kindergarten/school age classes.
Coordinate space, scheduling, staffing and curriculum between the early childhood and extended-care programs and related church, school and community programs.
Work with the childcare director to develop an annual budget.
Order materials, food, supplies and services as needed for the early childhood programs.
Collect and review lesson plans from childcare staff.
Work with the building principal and childcare director to complete emergency plans, procedures and drills.
Work alongside the school’s hot lunch Director for food ordering to ensure requirements are being met to maintain status for the food reimbursement program.
Inform and work along with Trinity Lutheran school’s janitorial staff or Trinity Lutheran’s church appointed chairman of trustees to resolve issues with building or maintenance issues associated with the childcare program.
Assist the Director in completing paperwork including updating children’s files, daily billing and DHS reports.
This position will fulfill the Lead Teacher Position in one of the classrooms with approximately 75% of time working in the classroom and 25% administrative duties.
This position is transitionary into the Childcare Director position within approximately one year.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Assist with orienting new families to the early childhood program.
Assist with the development of early childhood registration materials and procedures in coordination with the childcare director and principal.
Assist with the development and publication of early childhood newsletters.
Assist with outside advertising and/or promoting of the early childhood program.
CURRICULUM
Assist with the coordination and development of themes and curriculum in the early childhood program and summer program.
Assist with updating early childhood curriculums.
Assist with ensuring curriculum is being followed according to the appropriate schedule per classroom.
STAFFING
Work with childcare staff to develop programming, scheduling, curriculum, and special activities.
Assist with the interview process of new early childhood and extended-care staff members.
Assist with orienting new early childhood staff to the early childhood programs.
Promote and encourage staff development through training sessions, workshops and continuing education opportunities.
Assist with supervision of staff in the early childhood program.
Assist with quarterly, semi-annual or yearly evaluations of the staff.
QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
Certified by the state or taking steps toward such certification in the area of responsibility.
Sufficient skills to fulfill the responsibility of this position.
