The City of New Port Richey, FL is seeking either a FT or PT Building Official for our Planning & Development Department. The City of New Port Richey is a riverfront community approximately 30 miles northwest of greater Tampa with a total area of 4.6 miles.The position will perform both supervisory and administrative duties in building construction regulation to ensure public safety and health. Responsibilities include a variety of tasks associated with building inspection, plan examination, and permitting work. The Building Official will enforce building codes, regulations, and ordinances for both residential and commercial construction. This is a highly visible public contact position that requires exceptional customer service skills.Minimum qualifications include at least 10 years of experience in building construction with supervisory responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Qualified candidates must be licensed by the State of Florida as a Building Code Administrator at the time of hire, under provisions of FS Chapter 468, and certified by the International Code Council (ICC) as a Certified Building Official (CBO). Additionally, certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager or the ability to obtain it will be necessary.The anticipated annual starting salary for this position is $75,086 to $93,858 DOQ.
