Job Description

Uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), or drones, are being integrated into the everyday workflow at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The Airspace and Emerging Aviation Unit at the MDOT Office of Aeronautics is looking to add a remote drone pilot to their team to assist with this effort. If you have an FAA Part 107 remote pilot's license, the ability to use computer-aided drafting (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS), and have a strong analytical background, we have a terrific opportunity on our team. This position will not only fly drone mission flights but will be providing post-flight analytical work associated with UAS airport inspections and other infrastructure inspection programs within the department. This work area is not only fast-paced but strives to be on the front edge of innovation.Minimum Requirements:EducationPossession of a bachelor's degree in any major.ExperienceTwo years of professional experience as an aviation specialist, airplane pilot, air traffic controller, certified flight instructor, airport manager, aviation consultant, or equivalent experience in aviation safety, training, education, inspection, or airport planning.Aviation Specialist P11 - 12Four years of full-time experience as a certified flight instructor, airport manager, aviation consultant, airplane pilot, or air traffic controller; or equivalent experience in aviation safety, training, education, inspection, airport and airspace operations, or airport planning may be substituted for the educational (bachelor's degree) requirement. This is in addition to the experience requirements listed for each level.To be considered for this position you must:Possess a valid driver's licenseIf applicable, attach a copy of your official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation with your application.
