Position Summary:The Dining Services Director plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operations of the Dining Services Department, providing all residents with the best experience in hospitality and nutritious meals, in accordance with all laws, regulations and Century Park standards. Reports to the Executive Director.

Qualifications:Must have high school diploma or equivalentMust have 2 years’ dining services management experience with 1 year prior experience in senior livingGraduate of A.D.A. approved course in food services OR certification in the culinary field preferredMust have current ServSafe certificationPrimary Job Responsibilities:Administrative and Planning Duties:Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates dining services goals, policies and proceduresMaintains compliance with budget in labor and expense controlPlans written menus at least 30 days in advance of preparation/serving dates involving resident preferencesInterviews new residents to welcome, acquire food preferences, allergies and special requestsHolds monthly Food Committee with residents to ensure resident satisfaction in dining servicesDevelops system to track resident’s dietary needs/preferences and monitors for changesConfers with dietitian to ensure menus and department policies conform to nutritional standardsDevelops menus offering heart healthy choices and takes into consideration low sodium and diabetic diet needsContinually upgrades knowledge of dietary management and nutrition to benefit community’s servicesWorks with other department leaders to ensure flawless execution of special eventsCollects all guest and visitor payments and forwards to business officeRepresents dining services team at resident council meetings for feedbackKitchen and Dining Room Duties:Inspects kitchen for compliance with state and county regulations including sanitation, food storage, record keeping, food temperatures, portion sizes and chemical usage/storageReviews daily menus making substitutions when necessary and records changes on menusInspects meals for nutrition and attractiveness in delivery; performs meal countsOrders food, supplies and equipment for food preparation and serviceDevelops prep and pull lists to maintain food quality and consistencyReviews all deliveries for quality, proper amounts and pricingEnsures communication and teamwork between kitchen staff and serversInspects dining room presentation to ensure compliance with company standards of hospitalityInspects daily cleaning of dining roomVisits with residents in dining room during dinner meal at least four evenings per weekSupervisory Requirements:Recruits, selects, hires, trains, evaluates, supervises and counsels dining services teamSchedules department hours appropriatelyServes as an effective role model and maintains an approachable management styleTreats all associates respectfullyAdditional Requirements:Must enjoy serving seniorsMust demonstrate excellent customer service and hospitalityMust demonstrate trustworthiness and dependabilityMust work efficiently and effectively with little to no supervisionMust demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skillsMust be proficient in computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, internet based ordering systems, email)Must reasonably accommodate resident preferences in dining servicesMust be able to receive and resolve complaints graciouslyMust possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actionMust perform proficiently in all applicable competency areasMaintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationMust understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance proceduresDisplays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Century Parks’ Code of Ethics and completes all required compliance training
