Summary of Job

As a Senior Logistics and Process Manager specializing in the US-Mexico region, you will lead the strategic coordination of cross-border logistics and collaborate closely with the Senior Warehouse Manager to ensure seamless operations. Responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and optimizing the movement of goods, raw materials, WIP, scrap, and others, you will oversee procedures, facilitate efficient border crossings, and support "Lean" activities related to border crossings. Leveraging your expertise, you'll navigate the complexities of US-Mexico trade, collaborating with customs authorities, carriers, and internal stakeholders. Leading a high-performing team, you will drive operational excellence, implement technology solutions, and mitigate risks to maintain a seamless supply chain. With a focus on efficiency and compliance, you'll play a critical role in fostering strong vendor relationships, negotiating contracts with MRO, and contributing to the overall success of the organization's cross-border operations in the US-Mexico corridor. The Logistics and Process Manager serves as a crucial link between production, distribution, and warehouse teams, ensuring smooth integration and efficient flow of goods.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Budget Preparation:

Supervise and guide the Budget Planning team tasked with formulating financial plans and allocations for the upcoming fiscal year. Facilitate clear communication, seamless coordination, and optimal performance among team members.

Team Management:

Oversee and lead the Border Cross team responsible for managing cross-border logistics between the US and Mexico. Ensure effective communication, coordination, and performance of team members.

Fleet Management:

Manage a dedicated trailer fleet of 250+ trailers for both Border Cross and Local Movements in Juarez, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas. Optimize trailer utilization, maintenance, and allocation to meet operational demands.

Collaboration with Senior Warehouse Manager:

Work closely with the Senior Warehouse Manager to align logistics operations with warehouse activities, ensuring efficient border cross operations and inventory management.

Governmental Agency Interaction:

Interface regularly with US Customs, US FDA, CTPAT, and other governmental agencies to facilitate compliant distribution activities. Stay informed about regulatory changes and ensure the company's activities align with relevant regulations.

Performance Reporting:

Provide management reporting on operating performance, including key metrics related to border cross and local movements. Develop and implement corrective action plans to address any performance issues and enhance operational efficiency.

Asset Safeguarding:

Ensure the safeguarding of company assets by implementing adequate storage, handling, and maintenance practices for trailers and other equipment. Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets.

Supply Chain Security:

Develop and maintain security protocols to safeguard goods during cross-border movements. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address security risks in the supply chain.

Continuous Improvement:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of border cross and local movement operations. Regularly assess processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to optimize performance.

Strategic Planning:

Contribute to the development of strategic plans for cross-border operations, aligning with overall business objectives. Provide input on resource allocation, technology adoption, and process enhancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, distribution, and compliance, to ensure seamless and compliant cross-border operations. Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance operational effectiveness.

Crisis Management:

Be able to resolve disruptive and unexpected events that threaten to harm the organization or its stakeholders. It involves a series of strategies and actions aimed at preparing for, responding to, and recovering from crises to minimize their impact.

Documentation and Compliance:

Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of documentation for cross-border movements.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements [CTPAT, OEA, FDA, Customs, SCAN] and internal policies.

Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory product quality standards, sanitation standards, food safety standards, employee safety, and environmental standards.

Product Dispositions compliance in the US & Mexico.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees (Master's or MBA) could be beneficial.

Substantial experience (typically 7-10 years or more) in logistics, cross-border operations, process improvement, and warehouse management.

Ample experience in inbound, outbound, and production planning.

In-depth understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and cross-border logistics.

Ability to leverage technology for process optimization and data-driven decision-making.

Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management systems.

Knowledge of CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism)/OEA and other relevant security and compliance standards.

Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customs authorities, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Strong negotiation skills for managing contracts and service agreements.

Proficiency in English and Spanish may be beneficial for roles involving cross-border operations between the US and Mexico.

Excellent communication and reporting skills.

APICS and Six Sigma certification will be a plus.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move around and navigate various areas within border crossing facilities and warehouse spaces.

Willingness and ability to travel as needed, including visits to cross-border facilities, warehouse locations, and business meetings.

Capacity to withstand the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic environment, involving extended periods of standing, walking, and potential exposure to varying climates.

Capability to lift and carry moderate to heavy objects when necessary, such as during warehouse inspections or when coordinating shipments.

Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety standards within cross-border and warehouse environments.

Regular physical presence at key operational sites to oversee processes, conduct inspections, and engage with on-site teams.
