Position Title:
Library Specialist

The Peoria Public Library System is looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing individual who is passionate about public libraries and enjoys working with people. The Library Specialist position is a lead position that multi-tasks many duties and works in tandem with the other staff on a daily basis. If you are an innovative thinker who is looking to jump in and make a difference in the community and have strong communication, technology, and people skills this may be the position for you!
The ideal candidate for this position will have:Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteExtensive customer service backgroundThe ability to multi-taskExcellent communication skillsAbility to do library programs in a team environment or individuallyUnderstanding of public libraries
Application Process:A standard twelve-month probationary period must be served. However, it may be extended depending on incumbent performance. Applications will be accepted for current vacancies only until closing date, or until a sufficient number of applications have been received.

Education:
Two years college program or equivalent combination resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge or skills.
Experience:
1-2 years' experience in a same or similar work environment.
Physical Demands:
Work requires moderate physical exertion. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 10 and 25 pounds.
