JOBUnder general direction, oversees the Building and Safety Division and manages Watershed Protection District Programs per the Lake County Flood Control and Watershed Protection District Act within the Community Development Department. Establishes policies for building inspection and enforcement, assists with stormwater ordinance administration, handles complex inspections and code enforcement, manages the budget, represents the department to the public, and serves as the liaison for flood management to the Board of Supervisors, legislators, and other agencies. Performs related duties as assigned. First review to be done after October 10, 2024; all applications received after will be reviewed as received.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIESLicensing and Certifications:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California Driver’s License.Possession of, or ability to obtain, International Code Council (ICC) Certification within one (1) year of appointment.Complete a minimum of 45 hours of continuing education for every three-year period, with at least 8 hours regarding disability access. Disability access requirements shall include information and practical guidance concerning requirements imposed by the American with Disability Act of 1990, state laws that govern access to public facilities, and federal and state regulations adopted pursuant to those laws.Education and Experience:Five (5) years of full-time responsible professional experience in construction-related inspection, plan check, and/or design review, including two (2) years of supervisory or management experience. Possession of an International Code Council (ICC) certification is strongly preferred. Practical experience with principles and practices of organization administration, budgeting, and personnel management for a public agency is preferred.
