Senior Project Manager - Carlsbad, NM

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager that will manage all aspects of the office from employees to projects, and clients to ensure that all tasks are safely completed on time and within scope and budget. You must have experience with Environmental Consulting. We will only be moving forward with candidates that are Senior Geologists, Senior Scientists, Senior Environmental Engineers, and Senior Environmental Project Managers.

As the Senior Project Manager, you are responsible for making sure you and your team are completing projects as per their contracted scope, monitoring progress and performance against the project plan. You will troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. The team will be responsible for resource management, project scheduling, budgets, and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors, or contractors.

You will be driving goals and business growth by:

Maintaining and building new client relationships.

Professionally integrating with the Environmental Consulting industry in Carlsbad.

Sourcing and bringing in new clients and new projects.

Managing all aspects of large scale and complex projects.

Meeting project priorities, assigning tasks, and coordinating project staff to meet project targets and milestones.

Communicating with clients and delivering work products to their satisfaction.

Preparing designs and work specifications; developing schedules, budgets, and forecasts; selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and contractors.

Monitoring activities, allocating resources, and assigning tasks to ensure targets are met.

Estimating costs, resources, and time required to complete projects; preparing forecasts for expenditures and managing scope and schedule to meet budget.

Partnering with other offices to secure specialized resources for projects.

Conducting project meetings and preparing reports to communicate project status within and beyond the project team.

Coaching and mentoring project staff and assisting them in problem-solving.

Coordinating with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing, and collections.

Developing an understanding of project-related risks and being familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company.

Being familiar with company risk policies.

Leading safety efforts for the team and ensuring compliance with safety rules and guidelines.

Creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrating safety practices.

Promoting pre-task planning for all projects.

Performing routine site visits and evaluations.

Resolving operational problems and minimizing delays.

Identifying, developing, and gathering necessary resources for the office and team.

Managing and mentoring staff.

Working with HR to fill needed positions.

Required Education and Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

A minimum of 8 years of managing projects and engaging people at a senior level.

Diverse background in Environmental Consulting and Remediation; including environmental site assessment, remediation, risk assessment, and field sampling.

Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors.

Ability to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.

Capability to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities.

Independently problem-solve and work autonomously with a sense of urgency.

Exceptional writing, grammatical, and verbal communication skills.

Required knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (Microsoft Office and Adobe).

Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
