Position Summary

This position is responsible for oversight and management of enterprise-wide revenue cycle services to include scheduling, registration, and business operations.

Position Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of revenue cycle service department functions, including billing, follow-up and collections, credentialing, cash posting, scheduling, registration, pre-authorization services, and scheduling. Ensure systems are functional and recommend new processes to improve current workflow.

Develop reporting that analyzes the effectiveness of departments using industry benchmarks. Responsible for key performance tracking, reporting, and goal achievement. Develop, redesign, and monitor key performance indicators including payer mix, A/R, collection rates, adjustments, bad debt write off, estimated collections, appeal success rates, abandonment rates, and registration and scheduling requested parameters.

Work closely with other departments to streamline processes to ensure correct billing to patients and payers in a timely manner, thereby expediting receivables.

Monitor bad debt expense and effectiveness of pre-collect and collection procedures.

Responsible for the maintenance, efficacy, internal control, and data accuracy of the practice management tables and system.

Implement quality assurance program for revenue cycle department functions and monitor team performance, making needed changes, to support accurate downstream billing processes.

Responsible to maximize quality, accuracy, timeliness, and patient and physician experience during the scheduling and registration process (filling schedules, decrease patient wait time experience, accuracy of co-pay collections, and insurance verification, etc.).

Direct the selection, supervision, and evaluation of staff. Ensure performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner according to policy and initiate disciplinary actions as warranted. Resolve grievances and other sensitive personnel matters.

Establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures. Communicate relevant information to other departments. Establish controls and review mechanisms to ensure procedures are being followed correctly.

Assist with the development of budgets and monitoring of department operations to achieve goals within budget.

Maintain extensive knowledge of revenue cycle and regulatory requirements associated with governmental, managed care, and commercial payers to ensure compliance.

Develop and maintain internal controls to target revenue recovery throughout the organization by identifying charge capture, coding, and reimbursement problems, then recommending/implementing solutions.

Review, monitor, and recommend updates to the charge master fee schedule to maintain fees at levels that maximize reimbursement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or five (5) years of applicable experience.

Thorough knowledge of the revenue cycle processes to include scheduling, registration, billing, collections, and insurance authorizations.

Five (5) years of management experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Knowledge of accounting software, and ability to learn other software programs as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in a Physician Practice Group.

Leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
