Celebrities, government officials, heads of state, secretaries, industry leaders, all traveling out of Houston aboard private, corporate, and commercial aircraft are part of Abby’s valued circle of customers. Abby’s also provides exclusive gourmet delights for corporate offices, private and corporate events as well as food service management contracts.Position:The Transportation Manager at Abby's Catering will oversee all aspects of our commercial airline transportation operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement and delivery of goods and services. This role is critical in maintaining our high standards of service and ensuring timely deliveries to our airline partners.Reports to:

This position requires flexible work schedules within a 24/7 work environment. The airline catering industry is a seasonal business, and certain peak times of the year are blackout periods for PTO (paid time off), e.g., year-end, summer.Essential functions:Leadership, Management and AccountabilityEnsure complete and on-time deliveries for all IAH flights and DFW shuttle operationsMonitor aircraft arrival and departure timesDispatch flight coordinators and drivers and vehicles according to aircraft movementsOversee the preparation and distribution of all flight-relevant documentation (e.g., boarding bill, loading diagram, packing labels, etc.)Acquire knowledge of all customer aircraft types and configurations, menu cycles, trolley/carrier assembly, final pre-flight check, and aircraft loadingManage all out-of-regular-schedule situations like aircraft deviations, cancellations, late arrivals, overlapping arrivals, gate services, etc.Assist the team with catering deliveries to the aircraftTrain, develop, and certify drivers and flight coordinators on ramp safety, catering vehicle operations, and aircraft door opening proceduresEnsure proper use of Abby’s Aircraft Catering uniforms at all timesPerform airside A-1 ramp safety audits to ensure all relevant SOPs are being followedEnsure that all employees comply with TSA, CBP, and Airport Authority security and badging requirementsEnsure the commercial airline catering transportation fleet is maintained to company standards (using external service providers and internal maintenance resources), including regular interior and exterior cleaningCost tracking and archiving all catering high-loader repairs for future airline auditsRespond to airline customer internal safety auditsFoster good relationships with all local station Managers, Deputies, and Operation AgentsResponsible for safety, quality, and compliance with airline customer & regulatory requirements as well as company policies and proceduresMeet or exceed all financial goals related to labor utilization and expensesMap out and calculate scenarios and operational flow charts according to customer flight schedule changes and/or new business onboardingPrepare management reports (e.g., incident reports, labor reports, mileage and fuel consumption reports, etc.) as requiredDevelop and retain employeesResponsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling, and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other supporting departments.Qualifications:3-5 years of experience in transportation management or a related role (airline catering experience is a big plus)Ability to pass TSA, CBP, and Airport Authority security screening to obtain access to airside operations (airport badge – 10 years federal background check)Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, including DOT and OSHA requirementsAbility to work with multiple departments to ensure a smooth flow of work from start to final on-time delivery to aircraftExcellent leadership and team management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesFamiliarity with MS Office applications, especially ExcelAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyBilingual English/Spanish is a big plusCompany Core Values:You must be willing to embrace our Company Core Values in the way you dedicate yourself to work:CATCHCustomer ServiceAccountabilityTeamworkCompetitivenessHonestyOur Mission:"To continue to be the leading in-flight and corporate catering company serving the Houston & Dallas Metro market by using locally sourced and sustainable raw ingredients, providing the most memorable and personalized attention to detail all while maintaining a fiscally sound budget and complying with the highest food safety standards."
