This role has wide ranging responsibilities that involve skills related to managerial, administrative, and physical duties. This will include employee supervision, contractor oversight & management, general workplace & safety training, equipment inventory & maintenance, budget & cost tracking management, mowing, trimming, edging, herbicide applications for weed control, irrigation maintenance, tree installation, shrub installation, perennial and annual floral installation, tree pruning, shrub pruning and snow removal. This position requires a combination of leadership, horticulture knowledge and practical skills to oversee and manage grounds and landscaping operations effectively.ResponsibilitiesSupervise and lead a team of Landscape Technicians.Assign & delegate tasks, set work schedules and ensure efficient use of internal and external labor resources.Perform general landscaping tasks and any additional duties, as needed.Provide training, guidance and mentorship to direct reports.Plan and execute regular landscaping maintenance activities and standard seasonal duties, including mowing, trimming, weeding, aerating, fertilizing, mulching and planting.Actively monitor the health and appearance of plants, trees and shrubs and take corrective or long-term action, as necessary.Implement sustainable landscaping practices and recommend improvements, as necessary.Create, develop and update landscape operations playbooks and SOPs.Assist in the development of capital planning which would include irrigation upgrades, equipment advancements & replacements, hardscape improvements and landscaping improvements and/or modifications.Review & track preventative maintenance and reactive or corrective work orders completed by the team to assure quality of work is being achieved.Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, ramps and other hardscapes on the property.Coordinate repairs and maintenance for benches, tables & chairs, terraces, courtyards and other outdoor amenity areas.Ensure compliance with safety standards and ADA accessibility requirements.Maintain and manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants, shrubs, trees and turf.Program irrigation schedules to optimize water usage and conserve resources during standard watering seasons.Assess, troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems issues promptly.Assist with pond management and periodic condition inspections.Prepare and manage landscaping budgets, track expenses, procure requisite materials and equipment and seek cost-effective solutions.Plan and implement landscape enhancement projects to elevate the campus’ visual appeal.Select appropriate plants, trees and flowers for seasonal displays. Leverage 3rd party landscape architects and designers, as necessary.Effectively delegate, assign tasks and collaborate with service vendors and suppliers for landscaping services and materials.Monitor performance and ensure quality work amongst all who perform services on the property.Ensure that all work is being performed using proper safety equipment and being done in a safe and efficient manner.Periodic reporting and report-out to site leadership of all landscaping activities (immediate and long-term) to ensure connectivity and alignment with the vision of the organization.Knowledge and Personal SkillsStrong understanding of horticulture, landscaping techniques and sustainable practices.Effective leadership skills that will motivate the team and foster a positive & productive work environment.Attention to detail in order to maintain and elevate the aesthetics and safety of the campus.Ability to problem solve and think critically to address challenges.Prioritizing safety and ensuring compliance with safety regulations at all times.Flexible off-hours schedule and adaptability to seasonal demands and emergencies like snow removal and severe inclement weather clean-up, outdoor events.Provides excellent customer service by utilizing professional and effective language, communication, and timely follow-through.Ability to comply with both Jones Lang LaSalle and client-directed Policies & Procedures.Advanced knowledge and proficient with computer operating systems and programs (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam PDF editor, Microsoft Edge, Chrome), irrigation control systems and new innovations & technologies in the landscaping space.Education / ExperienceEducation – Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or equivalent.Driver’s License required.Commercial pesticide applicator license preferred.FAA license required (upon hiring) for landscaping maintenance activities on Wichita Airport Authority (WAA) grounds for the Koch Hangar property.Eight (8) years of experience in a commercial landscaping environment is preferred.Managerial experience is preferred.Advanced knowledge and experience in operating most, if not all, of the following motorized equipment: ZTR mowers, string trimmers, edgers, utility tractors, utility vehicles, new-age robotic mowers and snow blowers.Advanced hand tool knowledge and equipment maintenance activities.Work EnvironmentWear PPE such as safety glasses or goggles, ear protection, hand gloves, hearing protection, fall protection, hats, sunscreen, steel-toed or composite boots, hi-visibility vest or other PPE as required.Work overtime when necessary, including on-call for emergency or other seasonal duties.Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and stretching.Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs.Must be willing and able to work in all climate conditions.Location:
