The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner.Position Overview:

This position is with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and functions as a Psychometrist for the Southern Region. This professional work involves the administration and interpretation of both formal and informal diagnostic evaluations of individuals with disabilities for placement in vocational rehabilitation. The work includes all phases of testing, such as intelligence, education, and personality. The incumbent recommends prescriptive plans based on psychological principles and findings, performs follow-up, and conducts workshops and in-service training sessions.Key Responsibilities:Administers and interprets diagnostic evaluations (intelligence, sensory motor, perceptual, personality, language, educational, etc.) on an individual or group basis.Reviews medical histories and consults with medical staff, psychologists, counselors, teachers, and other personnel.Interviews clients to determine the type of psychometric measures needed.Evaluates individuals with disabilities for job placement or diagnostic/prescriptive purposes and prepares psychological write-ups.Prepares reports on test results for professional conferences regarding diagnosis, evaluation, prognosis, and training.Contacts clients or their counselors to implement the prescriptive job placement plan.Conducts follow-up visits as requested.Participates in workshops and in-service training sessions to aid administrators and counselors.Stays updated on new methods and materials relevant to the field.Performs related duties as required or assigned.Qualifications for Success:

Good oral and written communication skills are essential. Must be able to prioritize, plan, and provide timely services. Candidates should be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess a thorough knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation policies and procedures. Problem-solving skills are necessary to address unexpected issues.Preferred Qualifications:

Typically requires a Master's Degree or a Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field with coursework in Wechsler Testing, and three years of related experience. Mississippi Certification in Psychometry is preferred but not required.Address:
