The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible to ensure compliance to the BC quality management systems (QMS), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) food safety standard requirements and all customer and local regulatory requirements. The Quality Assurance Manager will provide site guidance, support and direction to ensure industry standard food safety systems are implemented and effective. The Quality Assurance Manager will provide customer support for specific product complaints. This role is also responsible for developing a team of quality individuals.

Key responsibilities include:

Ensure compliance, alignment and adequacy of the policies and procedures for Quality, Food Safety and, Sanitation and Regulations required by Regulatory Bodies, BC corporate policies, GFSI and clients.

Oversee support and guidance for obtaining QMS / GFSI Compliance.

Manage audit, visits and inspection of BC clients, Certifications Bodies, Regulatory agencies or corporate personnel at the plant - Oversee the implementation and sustainability of corrective action associated with all gaps identified in the internal and external audits.

Manage Suppliers Relationships as appropriate.

Provide support to correct key customer complaints. Complete CAPA and RCA.

Lead the plant in Food Safety (integrate, train and lead team members) which ensures HACCP/food safety plan is updated - Provide leadership for any food safety incident - engaging regional leadership as appropriate.

Quality Culture and Continuous Improvement processes.

Liaise with R&D, production and sales team to assist with effective and efficient new and transferred product execution.

Establish and document sanitation procedures and employee compliance.

Oversee laboratory equipment and QC material supply inventories.

Drive regional/global program ideas and improvements.

Ensure an appropriate and timely response of possible Non-Conformities or Quality-Food Safety Issues of products produced and supplied by BC.

Responsible for corrections and corrective actions regarding out of spec materials.

Establish and report performance indicators that show plant results, to both local and corporate levels.

Ensure that the Plant's Documentary Control System is functional, effective and up-to-date at all times.

Lead the Issue Management Team (integrate, train and lead team members) according to the Regional and Global guidelines.

About you:

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or Food Science or equivalent (or engineering degree with 7 plus years in food quality assurance).

A minimum of 7 years’ experience in food safety to include formal training in HACCP.

Formal training in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) food safety standards, preferably FSSC22000 or British Retail Consortium (BRC).

Formal certification in quality management system auditing (ASQ certification in auditing a plus).

Sound understanding of food safety regulations.

Strong written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths and ability to work effectively with a team are required (computer software skills to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint required).

Extensive knowledge of HACCP, GMP, Pathogen Environmental Monitoring and Facility/Equipment Design.

Excellent communication skills (presentation, report writing).

Good interpersonal skills.

Ability to multi task, drive multiple projects to completion.

Ability to adhere to GMPs and all other food safety requirements.
