As the

Quality & Food Safety Manager,

you will provide necessary leadership and technical knowledge to ensure superior laboratory services, improve product quality and plant reliability through our Quality & Food Safety Systems. The Quality & Food Safety Manager supports the plant health and safety objectives, manages departmental costs within budget while looking for ways to lower analytical and quality-related costs. This position is the management representative for Quality & Food Safety and training is equivalent to PCQI.

Unsafe conditions are recognized and correctedPreventive programs are in place to maintain safe conditionsEnsure compliance with MOC process.Ensure compliance with required product validations.Attend monthly safety meetings and complete regulatory ESH&T requirementsPerform job safely, in an environmentally sound manner, and in accordance with all cGMP requirementsActively support the plant ESHST goals and plans.Manage Quality Assurance & Food Safety Systems

Manage all quality requirements regarding FSSC22000, HARPC, FSMA, ISO 9001, NSF, cGMPs, NF, Halal, Kosher, HACCP, and Food DefenseServe as site food safety team leaderPromote continuous improvement in cGMP’s requirementsServe as plant lead for all quality-related regulatory/customer auditsFacilitate Management Review Meetings/Quality and Food Safety MeetingsCoordinate input and output data for Management ReviewManage quality and food safety recordsManage external and internal food safety communicationsManage/participate in supplier audits & visitsInterface with R&D/Sales to support customer needsManage Quality Control

Full laboratory oversightFacilitate clear, concise communication flow between plant manufacturing departments and laboratoryEnsure analytical documentation (lab results, calibration data, etc.) is orderly and accessibleCoordinate sample requestsManage nonconforming material, work with manufacturing management to determine dispositionOther Duties

Provide support to the site regarding quality/food safety issuesParticipate in various community/volunteering activitiesSupport implementation of projects across the plantManage Staff Development

Provide effective leadership to the lab and quality departments (training, development, set expectations, regular performance feedback)Regularly communicate business goals, objectives, and desired outcomesWhat skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?B. A. or B. S. in Food degree, Chemical degree or equivalentThree to five years experience managing peopleThree to five years experience in analytical laboratory or equivalentFood manufacturing experience requiredOrganizational leadership, teaching, team-building, staffingListening, oral and written communicationAbility to build and manage systemsGFSI understanding, ISO 9001 knowledge, and auditor experience desiredHazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) understandingHalal and Kosher certification requirements understandingCapable of motivating people to lead change and improvement effortsStrong interpersonal skillsDetail orientedDemonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasksAbility to safely exit out of the plant in the event of an emergencySalary Range : $84,000 - $116,000
