The Leave of Absence Specialist will administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), ADA, state and local leave laws, short-term or long-term disability plans, as well as supplemental leaves.Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.What would you do in this role?

Duties/Responsibilities:

Process incoming calls, emails, and system notifications regarding leave of absence while providing prompt and accurate service.Handle the time-sensitive FMLA leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.Communicate with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work while ensuring they are aware of their rights and responsibilities under said leave.Maintain communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relay communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.Advise managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off and short-term and long-term disability benefits.Oversee the return-to-work process for employees returning from FMLA, Supplemental leave, or other leave(s).Periodically review company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements.Keep up with all applicable leave laws for FMLA and state and local laws.Assist with internal reports: This may help Human Resources monitor employee attendance and leave usage.Escalate issues to the proper management resource as appropriate.Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.Perform other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws - such as individual state leave regulations.Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Workday experience preferred.Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred, not required.Minimum two years of leave of absence experience.Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.Physical Requirements:
