Supplier Development EngineerThe Supplier Development Engineer is responsible for developing and leading Famous’ product quality, compliance, and supplier quality processes. This role has a large focus on supporting new product development while ensuring product quality and compliance requirements are met through our suppliers.

Essential Responsibilities

Collaboration with sales, marketing, and purchasing to develop product specifications and manage the product approval process

Determine compliance needs and assess supplier compliance based on competitive products, market & regulatory needs, sales needs, etc.

Assist sourcing team with supplier selection

Internal quality processes that will be used to define and manage product and supplier quality.

Product quality specifications, quality plans, and inspection plans that will be used by third party inspectors or by internal teams (on an as-needed basis).

Processes to manage supplier quality and to “lock in” quality plans to maintain consistent products with consistent quality.

Processes to identify and manage product compliance requirements.

Internal inspection processes and methods.

Supplier and product audit methods.

Internal and supplier quality KPI’s

Review and approve supplier quality and inspection plans

Review and approve suppliers’ compliance to key product standards defined by product specifications (such as UPC, ISO, TUV, ANSI, etc.)

Lead problem resolution activities including containment and segregation, corrective action (8D/4D) activities

Audit suppliers either on-site (international) or via desk-audits

Conduct and/or coordinate internal inspection activities

Monitor, and regularly communicate internal and supplier KPI scorecards

Preferred Experience & Skills:

2+ years’ experience in quality and/or supplier development

Experience with product compliance standards

Strong technical quality and manufacturing background including a Bachelors degree (B.S.) in a technical/engineering field or equivalent experience

Experience with multiple types of manufacturing and inspection methods

Experience with different manufacturing and compliance requirements

Experience conducting and leading quality audits

Experience leading activities with international suppliers

Strong computer skills including WMS and/or ERP systems, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
