Job Overview:
Unis is seeking a highly skilled and experienced National Linehaul Router/Dispatcher to oversee and manage all linehaul operations across the country. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and timely movement of goods, while optimizing routes, coordinating with drivers, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. This role requires exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, logistics-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Route Optimization : Plan, schedule, and optimize national linehaul routes to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries, considering customer requirements, fleet capacity, traffic conditions, and regional restrictions.
Dispatching : Assign and dispatch linehaul drivers, ensuring they are provided with accurate, real-time information regarding routes, schedules, and any necessary changes.
Monitor Linehaul Performance : Oversee the performance of all linehaul operations across the nation, monitoring on-time delivery, fuel usage, and cost efficiency.
Communication : Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, warehouses, and customers to provide timely updates on delivery status, delays, or any other issues impacting linehaul operations.
Compliance and Safety : Ensure all linehaul activities comply with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety protocols, including driver hours-of-service regulations.
Problem-Solving : Quickly resolve any issues that arise during transit, such as breakdowns, delays, or rerouting, to minimize service disruptions.
Data Management : Maintain accurate records of shipments, driver logs, fuel usage, and any operational issues in the company's transportation management system (TMS).
Reporting : Generate regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including delivery times, costs, fuel efficiency, and route optimization metrics, and present them to senior management.
Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, including route enhancements, fuel usage reduction, and driver performance improvements.
Collaboration : Work closely with other departments, including customer service, warehousing, and operations teams, to ensure seamless coordination of deliveries.
Qualifications:
Experience : Minimum 3-5 years of experience in linehaul dispatching, routing, or transportation logistics within a 3PL, trucking, or logistics environment.
Education : Bachelors degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Skills :
Strong understanding of routing software and transportation management systems (TMS).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of national transportation regulations, DOT rules, and hours-of-service regulations.
Other Requirements : Must be available for on-call duty as needed to manage after-hours linehaul issues.
