Privilege to shop on best deals for family and home goods at Navy’s retail store, the Navy Exchange!Brief Description of Duties:Assist in performing maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of crafts and trades, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical repairs.Assist maintenance workers in performing repairs and/or alterations to items such as doors, floors, floor covering, walls, electrical switches, and washers.Perform simple plumbing repairs, including replacing faucets or washers, repairing toilet flushing devices, clearing clogged drains, and tightening leaking pipe joints.Perform light maintenance on air conditioning units and equipment in the facility.Assist in performing minor electrical repairs to switches and boxes, and replace electric lights, fuses, and fixtures.Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualification Requirements:Incumbent must have knowledge in general carpentry and painting, and a general working knowledge of basic shop machines and their safe operating procedures. Must have some practical knowledge of the general trades involved in maintenance work. Familiarity with basic tools and materials required for making routine repairs to buildings and ground structures is essential.Conditions of Employment:Ability to satisfactorily complete background checks, including a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI). Must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does not currently apply.
