Moderna is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Director of Gene Editing Technology Discovery to lead our pioneering efforts in next-generation gene editing technologies. This pivotal leadership role demands deep expertise in the mechanisms of gene editors and a demonstrated history of innovation in gene correction technologies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills aimed at integrating robust research strategies across a broad, deep research organization. By developing a strong team and fostering collaborative ties with teams across computational sciences, RNA sciences, delivery sciences, Moderna’s therapeutic areas, and other key areas, the Senior Director of Gene Editing Technology Discovery will accelerate Moderna’s mission of delivering transformative mRNA-based therapies to correct pathogenic mutations with gene editing medicines.Here’s What You’ll DoLead the gene editing technology strategy in the discovery and development of innovative gene correction techniques, focusing on next-generation technologies.Lead, cultivate, and develop a team of researchers and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mRNA sciences, delivery sciences, disease biologists, and preclinical translation colleagues to ensure the seamless transition of gene editing technologies from discovery to clinical translation.Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and technological trends in gene editing to ensure Moderna remains at the forefront of the industry.Lead the publication and dissemination of significant scientific findings and represent Moderna at key conferences and industry events.Manage budget, resources, and timelines for multiple projects, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and adherence to deadlines.Identify, develop, and maintain strategic internal and external partners to enhance research capabilities and innovation.Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.Minimum of 11 years of experience in genetic research, with at least 5 years focused specifically on gene editing technologies.Demonstrated expertise in the mechanisms of gene editors, including CRISPR, TALENs, and/or next-generation gene correction platforms.Proven leadership experience with a strong track record of mentoring and developing direct reports and driving innovative research projects.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering collaboration both within and outside the organization.Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proven ability to drive robust research strategies.Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)Over 10 years industrial experience is preferred.Demonstrated ability to adapt strategies in response to data and/or changing priorities.Experience leveraging mRNA and/or LNP technologies.A desire to make an impact as part of a high-growth, transformational company that is
