Job Description And Duties

Under direction of the Research Data Supervisor I (RD Sup I), the Research Data Analyst II (RDA II) will perform research and statistical work related to Behavioral Health (BH) Program - Mental Health (MH) and substance use disorder (SUD) data. This position is intended to be a resource needed to implement the comprehensive set of proposals that encompass DHCS's California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) initiative. The RDA II will work independently and collaboratively to perform data analysis, data audits, and a variety of technically complex research projects to resolve MH and SUD program and data-related issues. The RDA II will generate reports from various data systems as required by policy or statute and ensure State/Federal requirements are met with respect to protected health information. The RDA II should have extensive experience with all Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and entry-level experience with SAS and/or SQL programs.

Training and Development (T&D) assignments may be considered for this position for current California civil service employees. T&D assignments cannot exceed 24 months. However, successful T&D candidates may transition to a permanent appointment if eligible at the end of the T&D assignment.

Working Conditions

The Program Data Reporting Division (PDRD) is located in midtown Sacramento, close to many fine shops, fine dining, the Sacramento Convention Center, and the Golden One Center. We offer flexible work schedules, including telework, and opportunities for advancement while working on cutting-edge projects regarding information and data gathering, analysis, management, and dissemination. PDRD will consider qualified applicants throughout the State who are interested in this position.

Telework is based on operational needs for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely and/or whose duties are conducive to teleworking per DHCS’ Telework Policy and in accordance with Government Code Sections 14200 – 14203 for employees residing in California.

Should the incumbent need to report to an office, they will need to report to DHCS office location: 1700 K Street, Sacramento, CA.
