We are seeking an experienced

Instrumentation & Control Superintendent

in

Rahway, NJ . In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems in critical pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities construction projects. This role demands a thorough understanding of requirements, regulatory standards, and advanced control technologies to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Supervision:

Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Team Leadership:

Coordinate and manage on-site teams, including subcontractors, to ensure efficient workflow and project progress.

Technical Expertise:

Provide hands-on guidance and support for the installation, calibration, and testing of instrumentation and control systems.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all construction activities comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.

Quality Control:

Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify the quality and functionality of installed systems.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspection reports.

Problem Resolution:

Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during construction.

Training:

Assist in training facility staff on the operation and maintenance of control systems.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

Project Managers:

Coordination:

Work closely with project managers to align on project timelines, budgets, and milestones.

Reporting:

Provide regular updates on site progress, challenges, and any deviations from the plan.

Architects and Engineers:

Technical Discussions:

Collaborate on design specifications and ensure that the installation of control systems aligns with architectural and engineering plans.

Problem-Solving:

Address any technical issues that arise during construction and find solutions that meet design and functional requirements.

Contractors and Subcontractors:

Supervision:

Oversee the work of contractors and subcontractors to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.

Scheduling:

Coordinate schedules to ensure that different teams work efficiently and do not interfere with each other’s tasks.

Regulatory Bodies:

Compliance:

Ensure that all construction activities comply with regulations and safety standards.

Inspections:

Facilitate inspections and audits by regulatory bodies and address any compliance issues that arise.

Suppliers and Vendors:

Procurement:

Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.

Quality Assurance:

Verify that all supplied materials and equipment meet project specifications and quality standards.

Internal Teams:

Collaboration:

Work with internal teams such as procurement, finance, and human resources to ensure smooth project execution.

Resource Management:

Ensure that the necessary resources, including manpower and materials, are available when needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in instrumentation and controls construction, preferably in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotech and/or animal health industries.

Certifications:

OSHA certification and other relevant safety certifications are a plus.

Skills:

Strong leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Proficiency in control systems software and tools.

In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical, healthcare, or biotech facility requirements and regulatory standards.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Safety Considerations

Location:

This position requires proximity to Rahway, NJ.

Site Visits:

Adherence to stated safety rules during client site visits and construction activities is mandatory. Site safety training will be provided and must be followed.

This role is classified as a safety-sensitive position, with the Instrumentation & Control Superintendent acting as a supervisory figure for field work conducted by Asplundh Electrical Testing employees or subcontractors.
