POSITION SUMMARY:

The Procurement, Inventory, and Logistics Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of sourcing materials, maintaining inventory levels, and overseeing the shipping and logistics operations. This role ensures that raw materials are purchased at the best possible cost, inventory levels are optimized to support production, and products are delivered on time to customers. The ideal candidate has strong experience in supply chain management and can balance cost-effectiveness with operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement:

Develop and execute sourcing strategies to meet the company's production needs while optimizing cost and quality.

Negotiate contracts and establish long-term relationships with key suppliers to ensure a steady supply of materials.

Collaborate with production and engineering teams to forecast material needs and align procurement activities with production schedules.

Evaluate supplier performance regularly to ensure timely delivery, quality standards, and cost control.

Stay updated on market trends, new suppliers, and alternative sourcing strategies to reduce costs and mitigate supply chain risks.

Inventory Management:

Oversee inventory levels, ensuring raw materials and finished goods are stocked at optimal levels to support production and customer orders.

Implement and manage inventory control systems (ERP/MRP) to maintain accurate stock data, track consumption, and minimize waste.

Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to ensure accurate records.

Analyze inventory trends, monitor turnover ratios, and adjust reorder points to reduce excess stock and carrying costs.

Work closely with production teams to ensure material availability and avoid production delays.

Implement best practices for lean inventory management, such as Just-In-Time (JIT) and Kanban systems.

Logistics and Shipping:

Manage the full logistics process, including inbound and outbound shipments of materials and finished products.

Coordinate with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and internal logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and optimize freight costs.

Develop and maintain shipping schedules, ensuring efficient distribution of products to customers.

Monitor and improve shipping processes, focusing on reducing lead times and improving on-time delivery rates.

Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations, including international trade laws, export controls, and customs requirements.

Track and resolve shipping and logistics issues, such as delays, damaged goods, or incorrect shipments.

Vendor and Supplier Management:

Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring reliable delivery schedules and managing any discrepancies in orders or quality issues.

Review and renegotiate contracts with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure competitive pricing and service levels.

Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions and maintain multiple sourcing options to mitigate risks.

Budgeting and Cost Management:

Manage procurement, inventory, and logistics budgets, tracking costs and implementing cost-saving measures.

Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement efficiency, inventory turnover, and logistics performance.

Continuously seek opportunities for cost reduction in procurement, transportation, and warehousing while maintaining quality and service standards.

Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements across all supply chain activities.

Prepare regular reports for senior management on supplier performance, inventory levels, shipping metrics, and cost-saving initiatives.

Develop and maintain documentation for procurement, inventory, and logistics processes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in procurement, inventory management, and logistics, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software.

Experience with shipping regulations, international trade, and customs compliance.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing, JIT, and other inventory management techniques.

Working Conditions:

Office and manufacturing environment with occasional travel to suppliers or logistics partners as needed.

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
