Material Handler

based in our

Chatsworth, California

manufacturing plant! In this role, you will be responsible for operating a forklift to complete various required tasks within the operation. Tasks include supporting production operations by staging required materials, completing inventory cycle counts, staging and loading Finished Goods to ship out, receiving tasks, managing WIP inventory, among other assigned tasks. This person is to ensure following FIFO, checking, and documenting all relevant information completely and completing tasks in a timely manner. This person will be required to work safely in the warehouse environment and follow all safety procedures as stated in GMP, safety standards, plant rules, and code of ethics.Danone North America additionally offers a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Paid Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options.The

base compensation for this position is $22.75 per hour

and is eligible for overtime. This is a unionized role based on site and the work schedule is as follows (subject to availability):Second Shift (Days):

2:00 pm - 10:30 pm (Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday)Responsibilities

Obtain and maintain necessary certifications to safely operate equipmentEnsure all documentation (written or digital) is filled out clearly, legibly, and accuratelyReview and inspect all information for accuracyProperly complete assigned tasks as specified in the Warehouse, Shipping or Receiving SOPsMaintain FIFO inventory system of all finished product, semi-finished, raw ingredients, and packaging materialsPerform and ensure operational and safety inspections of equipmentCommunicate effectively with supervisors and warehouse leads regarding recurring problems or needs for repairsMaintain communication with other departments, management, and employeesFollow Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work areaWork diligently to achieve Business Unit GoalsEnsure clean and organized work areaSupport plant operation and priorities to achieve plant goalsFacilitate, attend, and participate in team meetings and programsAssist, train, and coach employeesComply with all regulations, policies, and procedures (i.e., Safety, Quality, Food Safety)Be cross-trained in other functions of the warehouse operationComplete all other duties and tasks as assignedAbout You

PREFERRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)1 - 3 months related experience and/or training in a similar environment where staging and picking is required of finished goods; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required is acceptable.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Production and Processing Knowledge:

Knowledge of safetyCertified to operate a Powered Industrial Truck - a forklift and electric pallet jackKnowledge of item numbers, pallet building, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goodsKnowledge of SAP/Tekdan and using a scan gun (as of 9/1/22)For Material Handlers that also drive company trucks:Have a valid Class C CA Driver's LicenseHave a clean DMV record, with no record of DUI in past 5 years or no-fault accident in the past three yearsAbility to occasionally lift up to 60lbsAbility to work extended hours and weekendsLanguage Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning Abilities:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsThe ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positionsCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

OSHA certification on powered industrial vehicles.The base compensation range for this position is

$22.75 per hour.
