The Opportunity:What if you could use your project management skills to advance research projects for next-generation quantum, photonics, sensing, and position, navigation, timing (PNT) applications? As an Action Officer, you know the complexities of supporting a project from concept to completion. You understand the processes, challenges, and opportunities in developing novel quantum or photonics technologies of disruptive capability. That knowledge is key when it comes to assisting the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) with strategic consulting on research and development (R & D) to deploy technology beyond laboratory settings. On our team, you’ll implement and maintain organizational programs in support of DARPA and the DoD. You will work closely with government clients to track and evaluate the progress of sponsored research and communicate technical findings to a wide audience. You will leverage technical and programmatic expertise to help with tactical planning using resources like MS Project, and strategic evaluation of new concepts and assessments of technological gaps. You will be part of a team of financial, technical, and technology transition experts to support our client’s mission by coordinating actions and tasks, providing recommendations on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, doing background research, traveling to R & D facilities, and having regular interactions with DARPA decision-makers, subject matter experts, financial managers, government stakeholders, and members of the R&D community. You will work with world-class scientists and engineers to shape national security investment through the development of cutting-edge technologies. This position will require travel within the U.S. up to at least 10% of the time, when necessary to accommodate client needs and is based in Arlington, VA.
