Area Fleet Manager

Travel Requirement:

Director of Fleet Operations

Job Objective:

The Area Fleet Manager works with cross-functional teams to coordinate the motor vehicle fleet safety and compliance in a multi-state region, working directly with branch managers and shared services management. The Area Fleet Manager will manage the National Fleet and Compliance programs to the local facilities within the designated area and provide expert knowledge and guidance to the management team and assist them in Fleet Safety and Regulatory Compliance efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

DOT Compliance & Management:

Branch point of contact for company DOT initiatives.

Coordinate Samsara set up and installation in vehicles with Fleet Asset Manager.

Work with terminal leaders to ensure drivers are following company policies related to pre- and post-trip DVIRs on all regulated trucks and trailers.

Ensure vehicle DVIR defects are being repaired utilizing approved FMC vendors. Ensure DVIRs are notated and resolved.

Maintain accurate fleet data in FMC database and communicate changes with Fleet Asset Manager.

Work with facility managers to support asset preventative maintenance intervals achieve at 90% compliance according to Fleet Management Company (FMC) schedules.

Perform one multi-day site visit per month for vehicle audits for safety and compliance. Visit each site minimum once per year.

Review all roadside inspections and ensure defects are corrected.

Ensure copies of roadside inspections are turned into DOT Compliance team.

Support a safety culture related to driver events review and coaching in Samsara.

Support M&A activities as needed.

Fleet Administration and Management:

Work with branches to utilize national account priority vendors as determined by Fleet Operations team to maximize cost savings (lower OPEX) and maximize rebate program participation.

Maintain fleet age by participating in annual CAPEX budget process with Director of Fleet Operations.

Support Asset Compliance team reviewing and filing IFTA exception reports each month.

Audit motor vehicle fleet registrations, insurance, and permits. Report issues to Fleet Asset Manager.

Supporting the vehicle registration pre-requirements and ensure compliance with federal and state mandates.

Support Fleet Maintenance Manager direction of random audits of repair work (large expenditures).

Coordinate asset movement and transfers as needed to support excellent customer service and communicate asset terminal changes with Fleet Asset Manager.

Facilitate vehicle rental and leasing needs with Director of Fleet Operations.

Communicate Fleet Card requirements with Fleet Asset Manager.

Coordinate vehicle recall repairs with preferred vendors.

Support vehicle toll management program for all vehicles.

Support ABM's and Fleet management with site visits as needed.

Support branch operations and dispatch with DOT Compliance technical expertise to ensure timely customer deliveries and service.

Assist Human Resources with driver recruiting efforts as needed.

Training and Development:

Schedule and facilitate refresher training and updates on DOT and EHS rules and regulations as determined by the company.

Provide road tests, ride-alongs, defensive driver training, and safety meetings with drivers and dispatch.

Assist in the development and review of policies and procedures.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience: 2-5 years of DOT and Fleet Management experience.

CMV driving experience preferred.

Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.

Excellent driving record required.

Experience with electronic logging platforms.

Detail oriented and process excellent organizational skills.

Ability to read and comprehend technical information (e.g., shop manuals, manufacturers' specifications, warranties, parts catalogs, service orders) to estimate repair or modification costs, reconcile charges and perform vehicle diagnostics and modifications.

Knowledge and experience in fleet service procedures and federal and state laws regarding fleet management and operations.

Ability to prioritize workload.

Provide excellent support to internal customers.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Ability for 50% travel.

Compensation:
