Position Summary Information

Position Purpose:The Assistant Director of OTPCPC is responsible for providing leadership and coordination for student teaching and educational field experiences within the Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) (CAEP, PDE). The Assistant Director serves as a liaison among local and regional PK-12 school administrators, teachers, university faculty members, and EPP students. Additionally, the Assistant Director will support the role of compliance required by PDE for students and alumni to apply for Teacher Certification.

Description of Duties

Provides leadership and coordinates field and clinical experiences for the college and EPP programs based on PDE and university requirements and expectations.

Represents the Teacher Education EPP’s on- and off-campus to various constituents.

Plans, coordinates, and executes student teacher workshop experiences.

Plans, arranges, and executes cooperating teacher education.

Provides Education Unit placement direction for student teacher assignments.

Coordinates student teacher placements in the field.

Works individually with students pursuing student teaching placements outside the geographic designation.

Works with university supervisors and school district teachers for successful learning experiences.

Supervises assigned clerical support.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies.

Provides ongoing communication with the Education Unit and University administration regarding field experience issues.

Provides ongoing leadership while clinical and field placements are taking place.

Manages the teacher certification process at CU.

Co-Manages the EPP’s required regulatory clearance policy.

Articulates and represents the EPP’s policy decisions.

Manages the Field Experience and Cooperating Teacher In-Service budgets.

Identifies needs related to Educator Preparation Program Workforce Development.

Maintains the ETS Roster of Attending Students.

Maintains and works with assigned teams to support the OTPCPC assessment processes.

Performs related duties as assigned by the Dean and Associate Dean.

Minimum Requirements ProfileCompleted master’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited higher education institution; OR 5 years related successful experience and/or education and valid teaching certification in a PK-12 area/level.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful PK-12 teaching experience.

One year of related management and supervisory experience.

Experience with supervision and evaluation of student teachers.

Background as a cooperating teacher.

Experience in Educator Preparation programs in an accredited institution.

Experience in a PK-12 environment with diverse populations.

Knowledge of leading technology systems in an academic environment.

Successful relationships with PK-12 districts and stakeholders.
