Typical day for this role:As a Grant Group Leader, you are responsible for the delivery and implementation of daily academic enrichment and recreational activities at the after school site. The candidate will also help children to achieve and learn new skills. The candidate is directly responsible for the supervision and safety of all children in assigned groups at all times (ages: 8 to 14 years old). The candidate must have the ability to guide positive behavior and foster a sense of belonging among the students in the group & program. Each day, our grant after school staff work with kids to take them through a variety of activities such as critical thinking activities, teambuilding activities, sports, fine arts, science, and more. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and build quality relationships with students, parents, school personnel, school district personnel, and other YMCA staff.

Hours:Monday – Thursday 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM at FWAS Site (within FWISD)

Requirements:Must be 18 years of age or olderHigh School graduate or equivalentComplete all required trainings and paperwork set by the YMCA and FWASMust pass a criminal history background checkCPR and First Aid certified or obtain certification within the first 30 days of being hiredA minimum of 6 months experience working with children in a childcare setting, recreational or education setting strongly preferred, but not requiredAble to stand for long periods of time and lift and move materialsMust receive a minimum of 15 hours of School Age related trainings

An ideal candidate for this role will possess:Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activitiesAbility to create activities that are beneficial for Youth DevelopmentAbility to lead children in academic and recreational activitiesMust be able to lead teambuilding activities with the childrenMust be able to lead group discussions that promote critical thinking in a positive and encouraging mannerThe ideal candidate will also possess: a sense of humor, patience, sincerity, enthusiasm, initiative, self-control, and adaptability, willingness to learn, and most importantly be able to work in a team
